Advanced Glycosylation End Products(AGEs) Immunoassay is used antibody to detect AGEs in the serum、plasma or body fluid. Hanson AGEs test is able to screening AGEs in the body, also as an treatment indicator of diabetes complication.

The AGEs is the original cause of diabetes complications. The AGEs is the trigger of vascular inflamation. Finally the AGEs will destroy blood wessel.

The advanced glycosylation end-products ," also known as AGE products or AGEs", are formed in vivo after a non-enzymatic crosslink of reducing sugar and protein, so-called Maillard reaction, under a hyperglycemia condition. AGEs is also commonly found in sugar pickled food and high temperature cooking such as grilled and broiled.

HbA1c is an intermediate products from Maillard reaction, the finally products called as Advanced Glycosylation End Products (AGEs). The HbA1c test — also called glycosylated hemoglobin, glycohemoglobin or A1c — estimates how well blood sugar has been controlled during the previous three to four months. The AGEs will be activation of the immune system that triggers inflammation. The AGEs will trigger a sustained and chronic inflammation to damages the tissues such like heart、kidneys、nerve、eye... It has been known that AGEs are closely related to the development of chronic diabetic complications.

The AGEs Drug

Pyridoxamine dihydrochloride(Vitamine B6) is marketed as a dietary supplement, was approved by U.S. FDA as new drug to prevent the progression of diabetic nephropathy in January 2009.

Pyridoxamine inhibits the Maillard reaction and can block the formation of advanced glycation end products. Pyridoxamine specifically reacts with the carbonyl group in Amadori products, also inhibition of post-Amadori reactions. Pyridoxamine also inhibits the formation of advanced lipoxidation endproducts during lipid peroxidation reactions by reaction with dicarbonyl intermediates. Pyridoxamine allows for efficient hydroxyl radical scavenging.
